Project description
This family farm offers a boarding service for horses while also cultivating cereals conventionally. The farm is located in an open plain with a deteriorated hedgerow network and houses a few heifers grazing on expansive pasture land. The strong, dry westerly winds in summer expose both horses and cattle to harsh weather conditions, raising concerns for animal welfare. The main goal of this project is to establish a microclimate favorable to the animals' health.
The project involves planting a double-row hedgerow along a 442-meter stretch, primarily to shield crops from the prevailing winds. Additionally, the hedgerow will enhance pasture and crop yield while contributing to the landscape’s aesthetic quality. This initiative also reinforces the continuity of the local hedgerow network. With this new hedgerow, local wildlife will benefit from new habitats, supporting biodiversity in this agricultural area. This project embodies a sustainable approach, balancing agricultural production with environmental protection.
