Project description
In Charente-Maritime, an owner manages a 21-hectare estate surrounding a medieval castle open to the public. He is continuing the development of his property, which began last year, by adding various plantings to support biodiversity and enhance the landscape.
In addition to the trees already planted, the project includes planting the second half of a grove at the rear of the plot, with species resistant to ash dieback, an invasive disease threatening local ash trees. This area will serve as a refuge for beneficial wildlife, particularly pollinating insects. An apple orchard has also been planted, protected by a windbreak hedge that attracts natural pest controllers. The harvested apples will be turned into juice, consumed on-site, thus adding a local and sustainable dimension.
Furthermore, two plots have been redesigned for rotational grazing, and tree-lined paths have been created to provide a comfortable climate for visitors. The project will enhance the estate's ecological diversity with a selection of native species adapted to local conditions, aiming to create a rich and resilient ecosystem.
