Project description
A vegetable farmer managing a 6-hectare organic farm, where she cultivates vegetables and fruit trees, faces frequent exposure to pesticide drift from surrounding conventional crop fields. To counteract this issue, the project will establish protective hedgerows, with single and double hedgerows planted on either side of the plot to form a natural barrier against chemical treatments from neighboring fields. Additionally, a double hedgerow will delineate various sections within the farm, enhancing spatial organization and crop protection.
Alongside, the project includes the replenishment of an existing roadside hedgerow to reduce noise and improve ecological continuity across the farm. This initiative builds on plantings from the previous season, progressively reestablishing ecological corridors on the farm. Through these hedgerows, the farmer not only strengthens the resilience of her operation but also enhances biodiversity and environmental quality on the site.
