Project description

In Brittany, an outdoor pig farmer is working to enrich biodiversity on his farm through the planting of bocage hedgerows. This project involves establishing two 140-meter hedgerows at the farm entrance, made up of diverse native trees and shrubs. These hedgerows will provide a natural habitat for local wildlife and produce wild fruits for on-farm consumption.

Beyond boosting biodiversity, the hedgerows play a role in carbon storage, create a cooler microclimate in summer, and provide forage for the livestock. The project also adds value by generating firewood through pruning, contributing to sustainable resource management.
