Project description
A farmer raising rustic laying hens, committed to environmentally friendly organic farming, is also developing a diversified vegetable-growing operation on living soil. This innovative approach preserves biodiversity and natural soil fertility, thus enhancing the farm's sustainability.
The current project aims to establish hedgerows on the farm's parcels, with several key objectives. These hedgerows will create a natural barrier against pesticide drift from neighboring plots and play a crucial role in protecting organic crops. They will also encourage the presence of beneficial organisms, such as predatory insects and pollinators, which are essential for the healthy development of vegetable crops.
In the long term, these hedgerows will provide a renewable resource for the farm, particularly through the production of firewood. This project is part of a broader agroecological management strategy that combines environmental protection, biodiversity enhancement, and energy autonomy. These efforts contribute to increasing the resilience and sustainability of the farm while promoting agriculture that respects ecosystems.
