Project description
On the coast of Finistère, a new farmer is revitalizing 2 hectares of the family farm, which ceased operation in 2021. Her vision includes developing a market garden on one parcel, soon to be enhanced by a double hedgerow. This hedgerow will play a critical ecological role by providing essential nectar resources, attracting natural predators to control pests, and reinforcing crop protection without chemical products.
Beyond its ecological benefits, the hedgerow will act as a barrier against pesticide drift from neighboring parcels, ensuring the organic quality of the crops. On the second plot, the project includes establishing a food forest aimed at producing wild fruits and creating a self-sustaining ecosystem with minimal maintenance. Part of this forest will be planted on an old quarry, where pioneer species will first stabilize the heavily disturbed soils. This agroecological project blends environmental stewardship, innovation, and family heritage, advancing a resilient and sustainable agricultural model.
